Programs

You can always count on the Massillon Parks & Recreation to do our very best to serve the recreation and leisure needs of the City of Massillon and surrounding communities residents. We offer programs annually to citizens of all ages and abilities. Programs offered include pre-school, parent/child, youth, teen/adult, and senior/adult programs. We also offer sports, aquatics, special events, fitness, and wellness programs. Programs are conducted within our parks, local schools, and recreation buildings.

Your child will receive the quality and consistent Swim Lesson instruction from certified instructors. When choosing a class for your child it is important to looks at both age and skill level. Proper placement in our swimming lesson program can lead to a lifelong love of the water.

Massillon Parks and Recreation offers a comprehensive fitness and wellness program that is committed to providing the Massillon community access to resources, information, classes and tools for improving individual quality of life. Our programs will teach you skills and build on those you have already established. Welcome to the number one place in Stark County to play Adult Softball, Genshaft Softball Complex! The Genshaft Softball Complex boasts 12-foot high home run fences, permanent outfield foul lines, onsite restroom facilities, an onsite concession stand, and LED scoreboards.

The Massillon Parks and Recreation Department recognizes the importance of physical education as part of a well-rounded education. Homeschool swim lessons are designed to fulfill that needed requirement.   Homeschool instructors as positive role models and are committed to offering safe, healthy and fun-filled activities for the participant.

APRIL POOL SCHEDULE

Pool Rules

The Aquatic Center features 4 bodies of water; a two-lane lap pool, a lazy river, a multi-purpose/splash-down pool, and a kiddie play area. Two 19' high water slides and a dry sauna also add to the fun!

We do not accept drop-in groups of more than 15 people.  Please call the Aquatic Supervisor for prior approval.

Gymnasium


APRIL GYM SCHEDULE

The gymnasium area features two high school size regulation maple hardwood floor basketball courts. The gym has the ability to be divided into four junior full court areas for basketball or four regulation courts for volleyball.

Child Watch Room 



Located in the north wing addition, this room provides parents with an opportunity to exercise or participate in a program without the worry of finding a sitter.

Indoor Track

The indoor track is adjacent to the exercise area and located above the perimeter of the gymnasium. There are three lanes with a mondo-cushioned surface. Twelve laps around the track equals one mile.

Locker Rooms

The Recreation Center features handicap accessible locker rooms for men and women. Locker rooms are equipped with plenty of locker space, changing areas, and showers.

 Universal/Family locker rooms are also available for those in need.  

Ohio & Erie Canal Towpath Trailhead

This facility serves as the downtown trailhead for the Ohio & Erie Canal Towpath. We expect thousands of visitors every year as they make their trips along this north/south multipurpose trail. Eventually, this trail will extend from Cleveland to New Philadelphia. Stop by for a quick break or stay and recreate with us! Our large lobby and vending area is open for public use.

All Night Program

Are you looking for fun, safe activities for the tweens, teens, adults and families of your church, school or group? Why not consider an “All Night” or “Lock-in” event at the Massillon Recreation Center? We’ll provide a state of the art facility for your program or event! Great for after prom, senior all-nighters, retreats, special events, and workshops. Reservation includes the use of the Aquatic Center for open swimming with lazy river, water slides, gymnasium for open volleyball and basketball, and a community room with kitchen.

 We cannot accommodate Birthday Party Packages using the Aquatics Center. We are only accepting room rentals at this time.
