You Snooze…You Lose

Nothing cancels a good class, event, or program quicker than everyone waiting until the last minute to register for it. If there are not enough registrants by a certain date, it may be cancelled. Registering on the day it occurs will not save it. Please register for all programming as early as possible. For your convenience online registration is available for most of our programs.

Americans with Disabilities Act

This landmark civil rights legislation went into effect January 26, 1992. It was a significant step forward in the effort to make our society’s services and opportunities fully available to all Americans by combating barriers and prejudices that confront those persons with special challenges and needs. The Massillon Parks & Recreation welcomes all individuals and families regardless of race, color, religion, sex, national origin or ability. If you are a person with a disability and would like more information and support for accessibility of programs and facilities, please give us a call at 330-832-1621.

FAQ's

How do I rent a Pavilion? Can you hold a particular pavilion for me until I get in today, tomorrow, etc?

All pavilions and rentals are on a first-come, first-serve basis. We do not hold reservations.

When renting a pavilion, an official reservation sign will be posted on the reserved pavilion, and you will have use of the pavilion from 10:00 AM to 9:00 PM. No alcoholic beverages are permitted (Ord # 135). Amplified music is not permitted without prior Administrative approval. Decorations are allowed but they must be removed and all trash must be placed in provided receptacles.

Can we just go and use one of the park’s pavilions?

While our pavilions are open to the public for “free”, we do offer the option to reserve them for a nominal fee. We will post a “Reserved For” sign and only that party has use of the pavilion from 10:00 AM to 9:00 PM.

What happens if it rains the day we have an open shelter rented. Do we get a rain date or a refund?

We cannot offer any rain dates or refunds due to weather conditions.

Can I ride a motorized bike on the Sippo Valley Trail or Towpath?

No, there are no motorized vehicles allowed on the trails. This includes motorized scooters, ATV’s, dirt bikes, etc.

My child has a broken arm, and cannot continue in a program he/she signed up for. Can I get my money back?

Yes, you may get a partial refund if the program has already started, provided you bring in a physician’s excuse confirming the child’s medical condition.

My child cannot come on two of the four days a particular program is running. Can I only pay a partial fee?

The full fee must be paid, as the instructor’s, facility space, and minimum/maximum limits are already determined.
