your massillon recreation center
The Massillon Recreation Center located at 505 Erie Street North was made a reality with the passage of a 3/10 of 1% income tax levy that was passed in 1995 to assist with the expansion of the Parks and Recreation system. The Recreation Center is approximately 69,000 square feet and is situated in the heart of downtown Massillon. The cost to acquire the land and to construct the facility took $10.4 million. van Dijk Westlake Reed Leskosky served as the architect and Bogner Construction served as construction manager for the project.

aquatics center
The aquatics area features four bodies of water; a two-lane lap pool; a lazy river; a multipurpose splash down pool; a dry sauna, and a kiddie play pool. The 19' high water slides just add more to the fun. Please be sure to review the recreation center safety rules and regulations before visiting the aquatics center. Our fitness center is filled with all the latest equipment to help you get in shape and keep you that way! The fitness center is stocked with treadmills, bikes, steppers, cross trainers, rowing machines, nautalis resistance equipment and free weights.

indoor track
The indoor track is adjacent to the exercise area and located above the perimeter of the gymnasium. There are three lanes with a mondo-cushion surface. Twelve times around this durable track equals one-mile.
gymnasium
The gymnasium area features two high school size regulation maple hardwood floor basketball courts. The gym has the ability to be divided into four junior full court areas for basketball or four regulation courts for volleyball. Other activities that can take place in the gym include aerobics, badminton and more. A stationary rock climbing wall is also in the gym and is a great attraction for the old and young alike.
game room/lounge
Equipped with pool and ping-pong tables, as well as video games - the game room is a great place to hang out and lounge around. With a comfortable and casual atmosphere the game room at the rec is perfect for fun amongst friends.
locker rooms
The recreation center features handicap accessible locker rooms for men and women. Locker rooms are equipped with plenty of locker space, changing areas and showers. Family locker rooms are also available for parent and family use.
child care
Located in the north wing addition, the child care room provides parents with an opportunity to exercise or participate in a program without the worry of finding a sitter. This space also serves as the home for many pre-school programs offered year round. Please call for more details on ages and time limits.

Time Limit: 1 ½ hour maximum
Hours: Monday-Saturday 8:00 am-1:00 pm
Monday-Thursday 5:00- 8:30 pm

3-Month Members: $2.50/visit
Non-members: $3.00/visit

special event & party rentals
The Recreation Center offers banquet rooms for occupancy of small groups to 150 people. You can have access to a warming kitchen fully equipped with appliances for your convenience. The rooms rent out by the hour and booking times vary throughout the week. Rental includes table and chair set up according to your preference.
