General Information

Volunteers Always Needed

The Massillon Parks & Recreation Department is always looking for volunteers. Our Volunteer Program gives an individual or organization the opportunity to serve and give back to the community. Opportunities available through this program are varied from helping to coach a youth sports team to helping with tree planting. Commitment ranges from a few hours per year to a weekly schedule. If you are interested in being a volunteer with us, please call Lisa at 330-832-1621 ext. 125 for more information about this rewarding program.

Share Your Talents…Teach A Class

Do you have a special skill or hobby that you are willing to share? Instructors are always needed to teach new classes for the Massillon Parks & Recreation Department. Creativity is always encouraged and commitment is flexible. Ideas for a class could be one of the following or something you create:

  • Arts & Crafts
  • Home Decorating
  • Land or Aquatic Exercise Class
  • Nature Explorers
  • Photography
  • Swimming Lessons

If you have a talent that would benefit our members and guests of the Massillon Parks & Recreation Department, stop in and fill out an Instructor Interest Form and Class proposal at the Massillon Recreation Center’s Front Desk.

You Snooze…You Lose

Nothing cancels a good class, event or program quicker than everyone waiting until the last minute to register for it. If there are not enough registrants by a certain date, the program may be cancelled. Registering on the day it occurs will not save it. Please register for all programming as early as possible. For your convenience online registration is available for most of our programs.

Access to All Americans with Disabilities Act

This landmark civil rights legislation went into effect January 26, 1992. It was a significant step forward in the effort to make our society’s services and opportunities fully available to all Americans by combating barriers and prejudices that confront those persons with special challenges and needs. The Massillon Parks & Recreation Department welcomes all individuals and families regardless of race, color, religion, sex, national origin or ability. If you are a person with a disability and would like more information and support for accessibility of programs and facilities, please give us a call at 330-832-1621.
